Qualitative Research Methods aims to provide you with the knowledge and understanding to approach qualitative methods and analysis in psychology. You will be rapidly brought up to speed on classical and contemporary qualitative methodology and the underpinning philosophy that informs qualitative approaches. You will develop a range of practical skills pertinent to analysing text-based data from interviews and other sources.

Forensic Psychology provides a broad overview of the contribution that this field can make in justice systems. The module considers the nature of forensic psychology and the insights that it provides into understanding crime, police practices, and criminal proceedings in court.

The aim of this module is to acquaint students with the main aspects of the discipline of clinical psychology. The module will provide an introduction to psychopathology and common conditions encountered in clinical practice. A critical stance is taken on perspectives on psychopathology and treatment, with discussion of the lived experience.

The aim of this module is to provide an overview of contemporary emerging technologies and techniques applied within psychological research. The focus is on providing you with a practical and pragmatic review of their application and knowledge regarding the advantages and disadvantages of these contemporary techniques.

This module aims to provide you with an overview of some core topics in neuroscience. The module will equip you with an overview of cognitive and neurological systems, and the outcome following disruption, injury, and treatment. The content will span core neuropsychological principles and assumptions and cover contemporary perspectives on key neurological systems and disorders that may be encountered in practice.

This module supports you in developing an appropriate independent research proposal that will form the basis of the dissertation. It provides support and guidance on conducting a literature review, identifying and constructing an appropriate methodology, an introduction to available software, and development of a data analysis plan. You will also be required to submit an ethics application for feedback and approval before embarking on your own research in the dissertation.

This module provides you with the opportunity to conduct your own, original research project that builds on the feedback received during the project proposal module.
